Winners of the 2015 Big Island Film Festival in South Kohala have been announced.

The Audience Choice for feature film went to “Honeyglue” while the Audience Choice for short film was awarded to “Butterflies.” The films were among 49 selections — 13 of which were filmed in Hawaii — screened during the festival held May 21 to 25 at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

Earning the Screenplay Award was “Garbagemen.” Finalists for the award were “Debbie the Viking” and “War 2.0.”

The Golden Honu Award for Best Student Short film went to “Sin Frontera” while the Honu for Best Hawaii Short film was given to “The Fishing Club.” “Butterflies,” which was also awarded the Audience Choice for short film, garnered a Honu for the festival’s “Best Family Short” film. “Rabbit” earned the Honu for Best Foreign Short and “Our Father” was awarded the Honu for Best Short overall. The Golden Honu Award for short film Best Special Effects was given to “The Sun Devil and The Princess.”

The Golden Honu Award for Best Feature film went to “WildLike.” The Honu was also awarded to “Patterson’s Wager” for Best Foreign Feature and “Under The Blood Red Son” for Best Family Feature.

The Barbara Award was given to “Jilel — The Calling of the Shell Microwave Films of the Marshall Islands.”
